Jamie Brims, MScPT, BSc, Pelvic Health Physiotherapist

she/her

My early career focus began in private practice orthopedics (full body musculoskeletal system). I worked to gain as much experience as possible in these first years and added specialized skills to my practice including Functional Dry Needling, k-taping, and various manual therapy techniques. I learned how much I loved to work with people in a one-on-one setting and that I preferred a whole body approach to treating injuries.

I have since found my passion in the specialized field of Women’s Pelvic Health. I gained a healthy respect for this area of physiotherapy practice during my pregnancies. I personally struggled with pelvic girdle pain during pregnancy, as well as lingering postpartum prolapse issues. I worked with a wonderful pelvic physiotherapist who helped me manage my pregnancy pain and guided me through my postpartum recovery with great success. I’ve delivered both via C-section and vaginally (VBAC), so I’m aware of what each recovery entails. My labor and delivery experience with my second baby was eye opening. It inspired me to ensure my clients feel prepared and empowered for their labor and early postpartum journey. Being a busy working mom of two, I also understand recovery journeys are not always as consistent or fast as we’d like them to be. Or that we aren’t always sure how to juggle our recoveries with newborns, toddlers, work and other family commitments. My treatment approach takes this into account.

Although my interest was initially piqued with perinatal care, I have developed a passion for everything in pelvic physio from menopause to gynecological surgery recovery. I have a keen interest in treating incontinence, pelvic pain(from coccyx issues to pain caused by Endometriosis), prolapse, dyspareunia (pain with intercourse), and helping pre-and postpartum women return to their symptom-free daily activities and sports. It’s very important to me that my clients get back to doing what they love!

I have been very fortunate to have been involved in extensive pelvic health mentorship and in advanced education regarding the specific needs of pregnant and postpartum women. I have worked closely with experienced pelvic health physiotherapists and urogynecologists. And I can now proudly add the brilliant team of OBGYNs, Lactation Specialists, nurses, mental health physicians and physiotherapists at Avivo Health Alliance and Warrior to this list. Working in a collaborative environment has always been a dream of mine and joining Warrior Physiotherapy has helped me to put this dream into practice.

Outside of treating my awesome clients I am a busy mom of two who loves to spin and do hot yoga classes, walk my dog, bake, watch movies, hike and bike with my family, and watch live music or do trivia at my local pub with friends.
