Frequently Asked Questions

 

General

  • No, we are primary care practitioners which means we can scan for any alerting signs of symptoms that may require referral back to a physician.  Some insurance plans do require you to see a doctor before a physiotherapist so please check with your individual provider.

  • We require 24 hour cancellation notice or the full treatment fee will be charged for 1:1 physiotherapy appointments.  We require 12 hour cancellation notice for group classes.

  • Wear or bring comfortable clothing that you can move in.  If you have any imaging (x-rays, ultrasound, MRI, etc.), please bring the report if you have access.

    If we are looking at your lower body; shorts are helpful.

  • Yes, absolutely! All of our physiotherapists have advanced training in musculoskeletal therapy, and are happy to help with other areas of concern such as; lower back injuries, shoulder pain, etc.

  • No, we provide 1 to 1 care throughout your appointment.

  • Our Currie Barracks location is not; however, we are able to see you at our Avivo Health Alliance location. Please let us know if you are unable to do stairs so we can accomodate you: info@warriorphysio.com

  • Our team has specialized in the treatment of female pelvic health.  We are happy to refer to our colleagues who are more specialized in male pelvic health at Lakeview Physiotherapy.

 

Pregnancy and postpartum

  • If you are having any symptoms (pelvic pain, bladder leakage, etc.) then you can be seen at any time.

    If you are symptom free, and would like to focus on preparing for labour and delivery, 30-32 weeks is ideal.

  • This is a specialized appointment with Jamie Brims, where she discusses in depth strategies for your labour and delivery.  Topics will include, positioning, pain management strategies and pushing strategies.  This is a great appointment to bring your support person too.  There is no internal pelvic component to this appointment.

  • Yes! We are happy to help with baby holding and keeping them entertained in your appointment.

  • A minimum of 6 weeks postpartum.

  • A minimum of 6 weeks postpartum; we recommend that you have seen your pelvic health physiotherapist for your first postpartum visit before your first class.

  • No, we don't believe that this should be a limiting factor in your workouts! We regularly have babies that are crawling or walking in class.

  • Of course, this is always up to you. There are limitations in what we are able to discern without a full internal exam; however, your comfort is what is most important and we will adapt to you.

 

Insurance & billing

  • No, we take payment through credit card or e-transfer and then you are provided with a receipt to submit to your insurance company.
